New Patients

"We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" -Albert Einstein

Taking those first steps to do something new and entering a situation that is unknown can be very unnerving and difficult. We have all been in a situation where we felt anxiety and/or nervousness when trying something new. Taking those first steps into a counseling office/session where it is expected that you will be talking about your own struggles, some of which are very personal and create a large sense of vulnerability, can see very overwhelming. Every member of the Optimum Balance Counseling team understands this. That is why we make it a priority to facilitate a comfortable and pleasant experience to help alleviate some of those first-time nerves. We will do our best to ensure that you leave with a better understanding of your situation and options.

Just Bring Yourself

During your initial meeting, you may come in with a lot to say, or you may not know where to start, or even what to talk about. Please don’t worry about feeling confused or having to have a plan when coming in the door. Our counselors will guide you through the session in a casual, comfortable manner. We will listen to your story, ask questions, and help you make sense of your situation.

Most people who feel nervous in the beginning feel much more at ease by the end.

What to Expect

As a team our many years of combined work in counseling the entire spectrum of challenges others face has allowed us a unique perspective, but we also realize that most people that choose to get into any kind of counseling are looking for answers. We want you to leave the first

session having learned something relevant and useful about yourself and your desired direction. During that first session not only will we be gaining a fuller picture of you, your life, and what you are trying to achieve by choosing counseling, but we will also be working with you on recognizing some of the things that are getting in the way of the goals and desires that you have for yourself.
